1st AltM Video Camp for Social Change

Let us keep producing videos for social change.

That was the unity of 33 members of AlterMidya- People’s Alternative Media Network who held the 1st Camp AltM for Social Change in Quezon City last October 8-10, 2015. The camp was co-organized by PinoyMedia Center (PMC) with the support of the World Association for Christian Communication, and was participated in by EngageMedia, a Southeast Asian NGO on video and technology.

In the said camp, video journalists from various parts of the country converged for skills sharing and discussion of the latest trends in using video for advocacy. Participating member news organizations were PMC, Bulatlat.com, Kodao Productions, Mayday Multimedia, Quezon Reels, Tudla Productions, Pokus Gitnang Luson, Southern Tagalog Exposure, Hiringgilya Collective, Northern Dispatch, Eastern Vista, Kilab Multimedia, and the College Editors Guild of the Philippines.

The trainers were veteran documentary filmmakers, many of them alternative media practitioners:  Ilang-Ilang Quijano for Conceptualization, Pre-Production and Writing for Broadcast; King Catoy for Video Trends in New Media; EJ Mijares for Creative Camera Movements; Owen Berico for Lighting Design; RJ Mabilin for Sound Design; and Ariel Saturay for Video Editing. EngageMedia also gave a session on digital security for filmmakers.
