Poll watchdog Kontra Daya received verified reports that votes for progressive candidates were not recognized by vote counting machines (VCM) or were credited to other candidates.
Voters from different precincts in Manila and in Cagayan reported that their voter receipts did not contain their vote for Makabayan senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares.
These incidents were reported at Clustered Precinct 2383A at Albert Elementary School at District 4 Manila and at Clustered Precinct 219 at Tecson Elementary School in Sampaloc, Manila.
In Barangay Manalo, Amuling, Cagayan, voter Marilou Siit reported that her companion voted for Colmenares but her voter receipt reflected the name of Liberal Party senatorial candidate Leila De Lima. Siit, who voted at Precinct 74472A, also reported that her voter receipt did not reflect any of her senatorial votes.
According to Kontra Daya convenor Prof. Giovanni Tapang, “The problem of discounting the votes for Neri Colmenares puts the accuracy of the VCM in question.”
Kontra Daya also reported incidents wherein votes for progressive partylists AnakPawis and Bayan Muna went instead to partylist An Waray. Both incidents were recorded in Bunligan, Baggao, Cagayan. Meanwhile, in Barangay Claudillo in Nueva Ecija, voter Cesar Veloso, father of Filipina on death row Mary Jane Veloso, complained that the VCM did not read his vote for Migrante Partylist.
