In Bicol | Broadcast for Change: Community Radio Development in the Philippines
November 15, 2017

Community radio broadcasters from all over the Bicol Region converged in Legazpi City, Albay, last 11-13 November, 2016 for a training on radio documentary production. Part of the project Broadcast for Change: Community Radio Development in the Philippines, the training was supported by the World Association for Christian Communication, in cooperation with Kodao Productions and Bicol Today.

Community radio broadcasters included members of farmers, urban poor, women and youth organizations that hold radio programs in local radio stations. In these programs, they discuss issues that affect the community, such as issues on land, resources, and the environment; youth concerns; women’s issues; and human rights violations. The training enabled them to upgrade their skills in news gathering and newsroom management. It also introduced them to radio documentary as an effective form of storytelling.

The trainers were Raymund Villanueva and Jola Diones-Mamangun of Kodao Productions.
