Martial law survivors and families of slain martyrs in Cebu remembered the stories of atrocities under martial rule of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at the Redemptorist Compound in Cebu City on May 21, 2022.
The activists vowed to honor the memory of their former companions by continuing to “reject and resist” Marcos Jr’s return to the presidency, with incumbent presidential daughter Sara Duterte by his side.
“Mabigat ang aming damdamin,” the Campaign Against the Return of Marcoses and Martial Law (CARMMA) said in a statement.
CARMMA-Cebu ended the program with a candle-lighting and prayer for all victims of state-sponsored violence at the memorial marker of abducted priest and organizer Fr. Rudy Romano, who was declared desaparecido since he was taken away by military forces in 1985.
