Altermidya welcomes the news that three accessories to the murder of broadcaster Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa last year had been convicted yesterday, June 23.

According to Percy’s brother and fellow journalist Roy Mabasa’s Facebook post, local RTC Judge Harold Cesar Hulinganga sentenced three inmates Aldrin Galicia, Alvin Labra, and Alfie Peñaredonda from two years up to eight years imprisonment for their roles as accessories to the murder.

We are grateful to the relatively fast trial.

But inmates, more so complete strangers to the victim, could not have planned, much less executed the act without more people who have real motives and resources.

We are thus one with the Mabasa family and the entire media community in calling for real justice for Percy. The authorities must find out who the masterminds were and prosecute them.
