FACT CHECK: VP Robredo has no platform of government, Gadon claims

On April 17, a video began circulating on Facebook featuring suspended lawyer and senatorial aspirant Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon claiming that Vice President Leni Robredo has no advocacies, program of action, or platform of government for her presidential bid. The suspended lawyer stressed that Robredo’s motivation for her candidacy is to prevent her opponent, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., from claiming the presidency.

The video was a clip of Gadon’s interview with SMNI’s radio station DZAR 1026 and was posted on the Facebook page “Atty. Larry Gadon 2022.”

FACTS: 

On several occasions since Robredo declared her presidential bid, she has publicly presented her plan and platform of government should she be elected president.

The highlight of Robredo’s platform include the “Hanapbuhay para sa lahat” economic recovery plan, which she has unveiled as early as December last year. As regards healthcare, Robredo has been carrying her “Kalayaan sa COVID” plan, a 3-point program that seeks to address issues on the COVID response strategy of the government, issues on hunger, and issues on education.

WHY IT MATTERS: 

Gadon has been repeatedly flagged, along with his usual platform SMNI, for releasing disinformation materials. The video in question has already reached 131,000 views, 21,000 reactions, and 1,800 comments. – Vanessa Adolfo and Jamaica Marciano
